One of my secret weapons for getting a C-Level sales appointment is to use a little imagination, creative writing and a digital camera. The idea started with an April Fools joke and has become a powerful sales tool. It works for getting appointments with hard to reach C-Level Prospects.
The concept is so simple and easy, that anyone can do it with a digital photo image and some creative writing. Here is how it works. Take a photo of a business or person you want to do business with. Sometimes you can capture these images at your desk directly from a website. Look for images that will personalize a news article which the April Fools theme allows you to use.
Fabricate a news article that laces in your benefits of working with their company or organization. Make bold statements in the copy. Use a catchy and bold fabricated headline with your prospects name as the heading of your news. I have used “Blank is Named Business Person of the Year” or “Blank Works with President to Solve World Problems”. Make this fun and tasteful and your prospect will want to read it. When possible make it look similar to a national or local news item. The more personalized you can make this, the better it works for you. Creating a template you can use will make it easy for you. When you can have this delivered in a special package and make it memorable. It will make a great impression with your prospect.
Making the telephone call to schedule an appointment is one of the easiest and fun parts of using this idea. Don’t be surprised if the prospect calls you first and shares the fun they had with it. In many cases the prospect will show your creative sales strategies with others in the office. This is a great way to reach more people with a single mailing. Use it and make it fun!
